So last fall I entered my first photography contest. Army MWR has each installation compete in a variety of photo categories within two divisions; Division 1 for active duty and Division 2 for family members, DoD employees, and retirees. The installations then send on their favorites for all Army judging. I entered about 6 photos in a couple different categories, but my favorite photo is the one that got me an honorable mention in the Military Life category for Division 2.

The photo I entered was my Heroes for Heroes photo taken last spring of the Ride2Recovery that came through Fort Hood, Texas.
I love the lines of this photo, the V of the arms of the Soldier on the right to the rider in the center, and the rider's arm coming in from the left side as well. At first, I didn't really like the rider in the foreground on the front left, but I warmed up to it, I think it shows the depth of the pack of riders.
I also love that this was a celebration of the perseverance of Wounded Warriors. It was great standing along the street with the Division West Soldiers that I was working with; mostly National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers, some of them had been injured themselves.
