The Austin Area Texas GSP Rescue hosted their January GSP dog park day at the Wells Branch dog park. We had a great turnout and the weather even warmed up for us. There has been a huge increase in the amount of rescues this month, suspicion is that bird season ended as the New Year turned so dogs were turned loose and surrendered. The news out today is a total of 27 dogs taken in and 16 adopted JUST for January. I am so humbled by the fosters that open their homes to these spotted love bugs.
All my photos for this play date are on my Google+ page, but here are the highlights.
So we had some new dogs at this dog park day, some of them aren't your typical GSPs... they're cousins... (Nikita was there, she is still looking for a home. I missed her for photos though!)
This is Lucy! She is actually a German Wirehaired Pointer - a very muppet like relation to the GSP. I saved my marriage and didn't bring her home with me like I wanted :) Lucy was such a fun, playful sweet girl, I can't wait to see her "after" pictures when she goes home with her forever family. UPDATE: Lucy has been adopted!
This is John Wayne - he's a senior English Pointer from the Pointer Project. Don't let his age fool you, this guy was keeping up with all the pups! UPDATE: John Wayne has been adopted!
This is Xena - she is a 3-legged sweetheart. She doesn't let her missing leg slow her down as she races from person to the next to stand calmly while she gets loved on. UPDATE: Xena has been adopted!
This is Gina, she's another English Pointer from the Pointer Project. She has the softest fur, she sat calmly the entire time, she's getting over some medical issues, so she needed to stay leashed - I don't know many dogs that would tolerate that as well as she did! UPDATE: Gina has been adopted!
This is Texas GSP Rescue Alum, Molly - she's fitting in great with her new family!
This is one of the amazing fosters for the group, Rich. Rich was fostering my own Boone when we adopted him. I just grabbed this shot of him and his dog when he wasn't looking because he usually ducks out of the way when I'm snapping photos :)
This pup is actually one of the puppies from Jezebel - it's amazing to see how much he's grown!
And this is my dog - he discovered this bird house someone with a mind for GSP torture put next to the dog park.
