The Austin Area Texas GSP Rescue hosted their April GSP dog park day at the Cedar Bark Dog Park, in Cedar Park, Texas. This is my new favorite dog park! There are several covered benches for the 2-legged visitors and the crowning feature is the enormous pond. The pond has a fountain and dock for maximum GSP entertainment. There are even doggie shower stations on the way out, so if you're headed there, bring towels!
My two were very interesting, Barley, my 4 year old, just sort of alternated between running, chasing birds down the fence line, and swimming. Boone, my Texas GSP Rescue Alumni, hasn't been near water since he came to the rescue. He apparently doesn't know how to swim, so we've got some swim lessons coming up when it's warm enough for people to get in the lake with him.
Several fosters were there in addition to the Texas GSP Rescue Alumni and Allies. All my photos for this play date are on my Google+ page, but here are the highlights.
This is Wesley! Wesley is quite the cutie. He was very calm and listened great amidst all the chaos. He's the only one I was able to have sit still for a photo. UPDATE: Wesley was adopted!
This is silly Briggs - he had a GREAT time. UPDATE: Briggs was adopted!
This is Dexter - how handsome is this face?! UPDATE: Dexter was adopted!
This is Merle, he is available for adoption. You would never know that Merle is 12 years old. This is the only decent photo I got of him, because every shot came out with lips and ears and water flying everywhere. He is in amazing shape for his age and size!
And here are some more of my favorites:
